Physic
1. Physic 1st Part
This book is primarily written for students in grades 9 and 10; therefore, if you wish, you can read this book before studying the standard board textbooks for these grades. You should read the entire book and also attempt to solve the problems provided at the end of each chapter.
2. University Physics With Modern Physics (14th Edition)
You might feel intimidated at first glance, as the book is written for a university level. However, it is written in very simple language; if you have thoroughly covered the Class 9–10 textbooks, reading this book won't be difficult. The chapters to study are: 1–8, 11 (excluding Torque), 12 (excluding Bernoulli), 13, 14 (excluding Physical pendulum), 17–19, 21, 23, 25, 26, 27 (only the right-hand rule), and 34.
Chemistry
1. General Chemistry
The book is written in a very accessible style and is divided into five parts. Reading just the first four parts (Parts 1–4) is sufficient. If you have started gaining confidence by studying your own textbooks, you can use this book to further solidify your understanding of the concepts.
2. Chemistry
There is no better book to start with if you want to dive deep into chemistry. It is written in simple English, and the end-of-chapter problems are excellent. Chapters worth focusing on: 1–6, 8, 9, 11–16, 19, and 23.
Although these two books are used at the university level, the fundamental concepts of chemistry are explained very clearly in them. How deeply you delve into the material depends on the time you have available—studying in alignment with the core IJSO syllabus is the most effective approach.
Biology
1. Higher Secondary Zoology
2. Higher Secondary Botany
3. Campbell Biology
It is sufficient for comprehensive preparation in the biology section. It features a progression from basic concepts to detailed explanations, all presented in simple language with excellent illustrations. The sections on scientific skills and problem-solving exercises will prove useful for the experimental component of the IJSO.
4. Biology
Thoroughly studying this book alongside the Secondary and Higher Secondary textbooks and *Campbell Biology* will complete your preparation for the biology section.
Marking & Timing
Evaluation Method
- There will be 12-20 questions in total.
- The National phase will follow the IJSO format with integrated questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
- Primary category questions will be based on the Primary Science textbook.
- Question papers will be provided in both Bangla and English. Students can answer in their language of choice.
- Marking for each question may vary.
- Negative marking may be applicable for incorrect answers in the Regional phase.
Time Limit
The total exam duration is 1.5 hours (90 minutes). All questions must be answered within the allotted time.
